Our Lady of Guadalupe Church celebrated its first Mass on the Feast of Our Lady, 12 December 1926. The Church was founded as a spiritual and social refuge for the Mexican migrant laborers. The annual feast of the apparition of the Virgin Mary as Our Lady of Guadalupe is celebrated with cultural food and dancing. These Aztec traditional dances are performed only for her feast, with symbolic dress, music and props. The Mass will be offered by Bishop Joseph Hanefeldt, Bishop of Grand Island because this year is also the 90th anniversary of the church, begun on Our Lady's feast in 1926. The kermes guadalupana was added in 2015 to extend the celebrations and include more people in the festivities.
