Event Description:
Scottsbluff-area residents have the opportunity to experience a live event featuring Misty Copeland, a world-renowned dancer and the first African-American female principal dancer with the American Ballet Theatre. “A Conversation with Misty Copeland” features the artist speaking about her life, career and experiences. The live presentation from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln on Feb. 13 to an already sold-out auditorium is part of the university’s E.N. Thompson Forum on World Issues. The event will be livestreamed at the Scottsbluff Midwest Theater, 1707 Broadway, at 6 p.m. mountain time with doors opening at 5:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. In 2015, Copeland became the first African-American female principal dancer in American Ballet Theatre’s 75-year history. The artist, author, entrepreneur and humanitarian will discuss how she broke barriers and how her work has inspired young people. More information about the artist is at mistycopeland.com.
