The West Nebraska Arts Center, with the support of the Nebraska Arts Council, the Nebraska Cultural Endowment, and Snow Redfern Foundation is pleased to present Masquerade: Expressions of Healing in the Bronson Gallery. This is a non-juried exhibit open to all artists. Masquerade is a classic tradition of masked balls where the participants hide themselves behind masks. But sometimes those masks can free a person to express who they really are. What lives behind the mask, what is your mask made of or is there a mask at all? These are some of the questions we dared to ask artists who tackled this theme. In this time when a mask is used for protection, we thought this exhibit is very appropriate. The mask concept is not new, but having it be some people’s daily attire is an unfamiliar practice. With fears of covid-19 and social stresses in our world, this exhibition could provide a new perspective into the human condition and purpose of masks. This exhibit will open Thursday, July 2nd, with a reception from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. It will remain on display until August 30th. This exhibit is generously sponsored by the Cirrus House and Snow Redfern Foundation, Inc.
